Nominated candidates for the ISSM Board of Directors election 2026 announced
We are pleased to announce the nominations for the upcoming ISSM Board of Directors election, to be held in September 2026.
We are excited to present the following candidates, selected for their exceptional qualifications and commitment to advancing the goals of the ISSM.
President-Elect (1 position available)

Linda Vignoyyi
Italy
Linda Vignozzi is
Full Professor in Endocrinology at the University of Florence, Italy, is the co-author of more than 285 manuscripts (H-index Scopus 70; citations: 13,905), has written several book chapters and invited reviews in the field of male
and female sexual and reproductive medicine, hypogonadism and metabolic diseases, male and female genital tract diseases, pedagogy in the health and medical field. She is Chief of Andrology and gender Endocrinology Unit at Careggi Hospital, Florence, Italy since 2018, coordinating a group of 22 professionists including:
○ 9 endocrinologists who devoted their clinical practice as well as research and teaching
activities to sexual health/dysfunction, reproduction, metabolic and endocrinological
problems in all genders and in all phases of life course from adolescence to senescence.
○ 1 child psychiatrist dedicated to gender incongruence service
○ 3 psychologists dedicated to gender incongruence and sexual problems services
○ 1 nutritionist who provides evidence-based information and guidance about the impacts of
food and nutrition on the health and wellbeing in the different clinical services of the Unit.
○ The Unit includes also a diagnostic lab service for mass spectrometry analysis of sex steroids level in different biological samples and a lab for semen analysis, the regional reference
Center for Cryopreservation of gametes, therefore Prof Vignozzi’s team includes also 1 chemist specialized in mass spectrometry analysis, 3 biologists dedicated to mass
spectrometry and semen analysis and cryopreservation and 4 laboratory technician.
● Head of the Institutional Center for the Prevention, diagnosis and therapy of infertility at the University Careggi Hospital-Florence that includes ART services, gynaecological and andrological services for couple infertility.
● Head of the Regional Clinical Service dedicated to couple infertility at the AUSL-Area Vasta Toscana Centro, that coordinates all the territorial healthcare services and infrastructures dedicated to couple infertility management.
● Head of the Regional Reference and Coordinating Center for management of subjects with gender incongruence (CRIG) coordinating all the Regional infrastructures and services dedicated to gender incongruence individuals.
● Head of the Reference Center for diagnosis and therapy of erectile dysfunction, reference regional center for semen cryopreservation,
● Since June 2021, she has been appointed as member of the Group of experts for National research and
training in the prevention and treatment of infertility ( “Tavolo tecnico per la ricerca e la formazione nella prevenzione e cura dell’infertilità”) at the Ministry for Health of the Italian Government.
● President of the School of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Florence, Italy (from 2022 at present)
● President of the Italian Society of Andrology and Sexual Medicine (SIAMS - from 2024 at present).
● Immediate Past President of the International Society for the Study of Women's Sexual Health (ISSWSH - from 2026 at present). She had the position of president of this Society from 2024-2026
● General Secretary of the Permanent Conference of Presidents of Italian Schools of Medicine and Surgery and co-coordinating as Excutive Board member all the Presidents of the Educational Program of Medicine and Surgery in Italy.
● Chair of the Exam Committee of the European Multidisciplinary Joint Committee for Sexual Medicine (MJCSM). The Exam has received the appraisal and approval of the UEMS-CESMA.
Prof. Vignozzi has been in charge for the appraisal procedure (from 2018 at present).
● She coordinates the Gynaecological Endocrinology Research Unit, University of Florence, Italy coordinating Research activity in female sexual and reproductive health at the university of Florence The team includes 3 senior biologists and 1 research fellow, 3 physicians.
● She co-coordinates the Andrology and Sexual Medicine Research Unit, University of Florence, Italy coordinating Research activity in male sexual and reproductive health at the university of Florence. The team includes 5 senior biologists, 1 research fellow, 1 chemists, 5 physicians.
● Co-Coordinator of II level Master Degree Course of “Andrology and Sexual Medicine“, University of Florence, (from 2015 at present)
● Co-Coordinator of II level Master Degree Course of “Biology and technologies for reproduction“ at the University of Florence (from 2019 at present; now the Master Degree changed in “Reproduction 5.0”)

Fernando Facio
Brazil
Fernando Facio, MD, PhD, is Associate Professor of Urology and Chief of the Division of Men’s Health at FAMERP Medical School in Brazil. He served as President of the Latin American Society for Sexual Medicine (SLAMS) from 2021 to 2025. His clinical and academic interests include men’s health, erectile dysfunction, hypogonadism, Peyronie’s disease, prosthetic surgery, male voiding dysfunction, benign prostatic enlargement, and male infertility.
Dr. Facio completed his medical training, General Surgery internship, and Urology residency at FAMERP/Hospital de Base in Brazil. He subsequently completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Andrology and Sexual Medicine at Johns Hopkins Hospital under the mentorship of Dr. Arthur Burnett.
He is an active member of the SMSNA, ISSM, AUA, and SLAMS. Dr. Facio has authored more than 130 peer-reviewed publications, guidelines, and book chapters, and frequently lectures at international meetings. He also serves as Associate Editor of Sexual Medicine Open Access.

Alexandra Dubinskaya

Dr. Alexandra Dubinskaya is a fellowship-trained urogynecologist specializing in female pelvic medicine, reconstructive surgery, menopause, and sexual medicine. As a clinician, researcher, educator, and advocate, she is dedicated to advancing women’s health and expanding meaningful conversations around sexual well-being and quality of life.
An internationally trained physician and active leader within ISSM, Dr. Dubinskaya is passionate about building connections across specialties, fostering mentorship, and creating innovative ways to engage the global sexual medicine community. Through her work in research, education, and communication, she is dedicated to helping shape a more connected and forward-thinking future for sexual medicine worldwide.

Christian Nelson
USA
Christian “Chris” Nelson, PhD, is the Director of the Walther Center for Supportive Oncology at the Indiana University (IU) Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center, the Walther Professor of Supportive Oncology, and Professor of Psychiatry and Medicine at the IU School of Medicine. Dr. Nelson also serves as the Chief Resilience Officer for the Cancer Center.
He specializes in improving the quality of life of patients treated for genitourinary malignancies and older adults with cancer. As the psychological liaison to the Genitourinary and Sexual Medicine services, he helps men with prostate cancer who experience treatment-related sexual dysfunction, along with their partners, optimize intimacy before, during, and after treatment. He also works with the Geriatric Disease Management team, providing psychological support to patients aged 65 years and older.

Dr. Mai Ba Tien Dung is a leading expert in Andrology, Sexual Medicine, and Male Infertility in Vietnam, with nearly 30 years of clinical and academic experience. He currently serves as the Head of the Andrology Department at Binh
Dan Hospital and Vice Dean at Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine.
A dedicated member of the International Society for Sexual Medicine (ISSM) and the Asia-Pacific Society for Sexual Medicine (APSSM) since 2009, Dr. Dung has played a pivotal role in advancing sexual health education and surgical standards across the region. He is currently the Secretary-General of APSSM and Vice President of the Vietnamese Society for Sexual Medicine (VSSM). As an active researcher and international speaker, he has authored numerous peer-reviewed papers in global journals. His commitment to global collaboration, academic excellence, and expanding medical access makes him a strong candidate to represent the global sexual medicine community.
Self-Nomination Process:
In accordance with the ISSM Bylaws, we remind all members that even if you are not nominated by the ISSM Nominating Committee, you can still pursue a position through the self-nomination process with the following steps:
- Eligibility: Ensure you are a full ISSM member in good standing and meet the criteria outlined by the ISSM Board of Directors in the “Qualifications of Elected Positions within the ISSM.”
- Petition Form: Complete a petition form and obtain signatures from 20 full (paid) members of the society.
- Submission Period: Submit the completed petition form - deadline for submission is June 9, 2026, at 23:59 PDT.
Open Positions:
- President-Elect: 2-year term, followed by a 2-year term as President, and concluding with 2 years as Immediate Past-President.
- Treasurer: 4-year term.
- 3 x Members-at-Large: 4-year term (non-renewable).
