Requirements:
Applicants for the Editor-in-Chief role should meet the following criteria:
- Postgraduate qualification/experience (Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent) in sexual medicine, urology, andrology, gynecology, psychiatry, or a related discipline with an appreciation for sexual function and dysfunction of all genders in order to maintain a balance of content.
- Proven experience as a subject thought-leader with a significant number of publications.
- Previous editorial experience, such as serving on editorial boards or in editorial leadership positions.
- Familiarity with editorial processes, including peer review, and strong analytical and critical appraisal skills.
- Excellent communication, leadership, time management, and organizational skills.
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
- Active membership in the International Society for Sexual Medicine (ISSM).
Term and Compensation:
The Editor-in-Chief will serve an initial 3-year term, with the potential for a 5-year extension based on evaluation by the ISSM Publication Committee and ISSM Executive Committee. The term is expected to commence on October 1, 2024. An honorarium commensurate with the responsibilities and importance of the role will be provided.

The International Society for Sexual Medicine (ISSM) values and respects your individual privacy and is committed to protecting it. The ISSM sends "transactional or relational email messages," which include, but are not limited to, electronically transmitted news, informational bulletins, meetings and member-benefit announcements, and surveys. You may opt-out of a specific email list by following the "unsubscribe" instructions of any email message sent to you from the ISSM or its component or affiliated organizations. If you are an EU citizen, you will be asked to expressly give ISSM permission to send these types of messages. Additionally, the ISSM will:
- Ensure it uses email and mailing lists for ISSM operational activities. Additionally, it ensures this email policy—including unsubscribe requests or EU Citizens whom have not granted permission—is strictly enforced.
- Ensure its email promotional announcements are sent to recipients whom have an interest in the subject matter or in the case an EU citizen has actively approved promotional / commercial announcements to be sent.
- Ensure all promotional announcements contain a marketing-specific subject line, concise promotional copy, accurate reply instructions, a link to the ISSM’s privacy policy, and clear unsubscribe instructions.
- Honor all "unsubscribe" requests and adhere to GDPR for all EU citizens in a timely manner.
Individuals applying for membership through the website may be required to provide personally identifiable information. This information is temporarily retained in the ISSM database until which time that are approved or not approved. If approved, the information provided by the new member is retained. If not approved for membership, any personally identifiable information will be removed from the ISSM database.
We retain your personal data for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the site, newsletters, and Standard Set subscriptions to you, or as otherwise required by law. Due to inactivity we may contact you to see if you still wish us to hold your data or if we should delete it.
ISSM member email addresses may be made available to other ISSM members through the ISSM Member Directory. The ISSM does not share, rent or sell email addresses to commercial vendors.

Banner Advertising
Banner advertisements on the ISSM‘s website do not collect any personally identifiable information on individual visitors. The ISSM does collect aggregate data on visitors such as time of day and Web browser type, which may be shared with advertisers to determine their advertising effectiveness.
Information Safeguarding
User ID and Password
Aspects of the Site require the use of a user ID and password. The user ID and password enables ISSM to verify your identity and thereby allows you access to member information such as your ISSM account, CME Credit history, Meeting registration details, etc.
When you have finished using a secure area of the site, make sure you always click on the "Log Out" link which appears on every secure page. When you click on the "Log Out" link, you will be given the option to end your secure session. No further secure transactions can be conducted without re-entering your user ID and password. You should be aware, browser software often "caches" a page as you look at it, meaning some pages are saved in your computer's temporary memory. Therefore, you may find when clicking on your "Back" button it shows you a saved version of a previously viewed page. Caching in no way affects the security of your confidential user ID or password.
