What is penile cancer?

Penile cancer is a rare form of cancer that affects a man’s penis.

About 95% of penile cancers are squamous cell carcinomas. This means that they start in flat skin cells. Cancer cells can grow anywhere on the penis, but they are more likely to start on the foreskin (in uncircumcised men) or at the tip of the penis, an area called the glans.

Many experts believe that circumcision can reduce the risk of penile cancer.
